Rotary Club of Weston

Worldwide Humanitarian Service Organization

The Rotary Club of Weston has been a part of the landscape of the City of Weston since December 18, 1986, and today is recognized as one of the leading community service organizations in Southwest Broward County.

At the Rotary Club of Weston we focus our community service activities in the areas of Services to Youth (including education / scholarship / learning development) and Services to Families In Need through volunteerism, the application of member skills, organizational resources, and our fundraising activities and events. You may have participated in or attended a Weston Rotary event such as the annual “Scholarship Golf Classic” at Weston Hills CC, the annual “Run for Tomorrow & Family Festival” (formerly known as the “Rotary Holiday Run”).

Over the past decades the Rotary Club of Weston has awarded more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to hundreds of graduating seniors from Cypress Bay, Western High School, Sagemont and HANDY; young men and women of our community who have clearly demonstrated an exceptional combination of academic achievement and commitment to community service. Weston Rotary has also contributed more than $500,000 from its annual “Run for Tomorrow & Family Festival” to local charities, non-profit organizations, and the Rotary Foundation.

The more than 120 men and women of the Rotary Club of Weston are business owners and managers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, educators, artists, clergy, energetic retirees and, most importantly, your neighbors. Rotary provides members with a unique opportunity to serve others by participating in projects to enhance their local community and to help those in need throughout the world. From its inception, the Rotary Club of Weston is committed to participating in activities and raising funds for community and international projects.

President's Message

Weston Rotary Club President Mary Beth Casey

Rotary Serving Humanity

By: Mary Beth Casey,  President, Rotary Club of Weston 2016-2017

This is the simple story of Rotary. We do good in the world. And this year’s theme: Rotary Serving Humanity pointedly reminds us of the overall effort of our “Service Above Self” commitment. To build a better world and help make a difference for those that we can touch.

It is my honor to lead the Rotary Club of Weston into our 30th Anniversary Year as a Club. We have grown to over 130 members and our energy and passion continue to swell along with our membership count. Our Club is built on believing that our diversity strengthens us, our success inspires us and our day to day community service makes us proud to be Rotarians. Our Rotary International  President, John G. Germ, said “I believe everyone recognizes the opportunity to serve Rotary for what it truly is: not a small opportunity, but a great one; an opportunity of a lifetime to change the world for the better, forever through Rotary’s service to humanity,” said Germ. Rotary members around the globe are serving humanity by providing clean water to underdeveloped communities, promoting peace in conflict areas, and strengthening communities through basic education and literacy. But none more important than our work to eradicate polio worldwide, he said.

The Rotary Club of Weston has three major fundraising events each year:  The Annual Holiday Run for Tomorrow 5K/Half Marathon is scheduled this year for December 11, 2016. This event raises funds for all the community charity partners we serve throughout the year such as Life Net 4 Families, Susan B Anthony Recovery Center, Gilda’s Club and the VA Nursing Home.   Our Annual Drawdown Event is a reverse lottery evening of entertainment and fun scheduled for March 9, 2017. Then we have our Annual Golf Tournament, scheduled for April 3, 2017.  Both the Drawdown and the Golf Tournament raise funds for scholarships for graduating seniors of our local high schools. We typically provide over $100,000 annually to these students. The Rotary Club of Weston also sponsors three Interact Clubs at the local high schools and two Rotaract Clubs: one at Nova Southeast University and one that is community based in West Broward. These Interact and Rotaract Clubs provide the education and training to the youth in our community to understand and support the Rotary mission. These will become our Rotarians of tomorrow.

Join us on Thursday mornings at 7:00 at Weston Hills Country Club in Weston. Be my guest and learn for yourself about the passion that is Rotary, the energy that is Rotary and the commitment that is Rotary to make a difference in the world. One person, one day at a time.
